Presentation/Mini-bio:
A Group of Maracatu de Baque Solto made by rural workers who present Dance and Music. Created in 1966, at the Chã Camará Ranch, at the countryside of Aliança county, in Pernambuco. The community along Master Batista gathered to sing and dance. From these meetings the group Maracatu Estrela de Ouro was born, to demonstrate and value cultural practices and traditions. Maracatu Estrela de Aliança still has its headquarters at the same Chã de Camará Ranch, with its 55 ears of exhistance it enchants the audience with its beautiful beats, choreagraphies and evolutions. At the Maracatu e can see many characters: Caboclos de Lança, Mateus, Burra, Huntsman, Catirina, Master and Counter Master, Baianas, King, Queen , Prince, Princess, Arraiamar, and Porta Estandarte. They perform wearring exquisitely embroidered costumes. In 2006 Maracatu Estrela de Ouro toured in France, perfomng in 6 cities and at the capital, Paris. It was renowned as Cultural Point in 2004 by the Cultura Viva program, from the Ministry of Culture. In 2009 it was awaded by the same Ministry the award “Order of Cultural Merit”, considered the top prize of the Brazilian Culture. In December of 2011, Maracatu Estrela de Ouro was recognized as Living Heritage of Pernambuco.
