Presentation/Mini-bio:
One of the 14 monument theaters in the country, landmarked by the National Artistic and Historic Heritage in 1949, the Santa Isabel Theater represents the first and most expressive building of neoclassic architecture in Pernambuco. It's bio holds pages full of operas, dramas, concertos, comedies, speech tournaments, civil and political solenities, balls, parties and dinners. For a long time it was the stage for various events in Recife: political, social and cultural.
The Santa Isabel Theater has welcomed many personalities throughout its history, such as emperor Dom Pedro II, Castro Alves, Tobias Barreto, Carlos Gomes, the internationally known Russian Ballerina Ana Pavllova, Procópio Ferreira, among others.
The Santa Isabel Theater schedules its activities through the solicitation of independent productions, according to the City Hall's Decree nº 21.924.
