Presentation/Mini-bio:
Dona Amélia Theater is located at Sesc Petrolina (on Pernambuco's backlands) and holds cultural and artistic activities, specially on the music, scenic arts (theater, dance, circus and opera), audiovisual, performance and literature fields, considering criteria such as the excellence in the artistic quality; artistic and cultural diversity; stimuli of creation, fruition and broadcast of arts and incentive and promotion for the development of groups and art companies, especially of its own geo and symbolic location; besides holding congresses, seminars, graduations and performances with pedagogical meaning and broader nature. The theater name pays homage to Dona Amélia, a master of Samba de Véio (a folk manifestation that happens at Massangano Island in Petrolina/PE). The teacher holds a 345-seat concert hall, 04 being for obese people and 08 for wheel chairs, and an Italian style stage.
Dona Amélia Theater has already held shows from various locations, that went to Petrolina through tours and/or through projects held by Sesc Petrolina, some examples are: Aldeia Vale Dançar, Aldeia do Velho Chico, Experimenta Cena, Entre Margens, Mostra 14 de Dança, between others.
