Presentation/Mini-bio:

Built with the financing and idea of Bento Luís de Aguiar, the Teatro do Parque had its structure built in steel and cement. Decorated by painter Henrique Elliot and Mario Nunes, it was one of the first theater-gardens in the country. Located in the downtown of Pernambuco's capital, generations of artists were trained and forged there, under the applause of heterogeneous and numerous welcoming audiences of every style and aesthetical preferences, aes and socio-economical profiles. In its gardens, which reinforces the symbolism and the strength of the facility that becomes a an opened clearing amidst the urban growth of the city, the Parque is part of the history of almost every person born in Recife, embracing performing arts, movies and music, always a stalwart of the low-income admittance prices as an unfailing strategy to attract the audience. It was recently renovated and opened to the public by the end of 2020, thus, it is again part of the cultural schedule of Pernambuco, opening its doors to a lot of history and art.

About its work:

Throughout its long existence national and international shows have been presented on its stage, also dedicated to music and the movies, but especially devoted to its audience. Teatro do Parque, in 1973, became the first Permanent Educational Movie Theater of Brazil, with a motto of educating through image. The project Six and a Half was able to link a lower-income class to music, betting in an unfailing tripod of factors: great spectacles, low-income prices, and an schedule strategically though to attract the downtown worker who was leaving his job (because the shows begin, as the project announces, at 6:30 PM). In the dance field many known groups and national renowned names have performed there, such as: Ana Botafogo, Carlinhos de Jesus, Daniela Severian, Balé Stagium, Balé Cisne Negro, Henri Neto, Steven Harper, Marcelo Pereira and Cecília Kershe. It's basically the residence to the Symphonic Band of Recife, always hosting presentations and rehearsals.
